Sold
It has been a momentous day in our household. Our home for the last 39 years has been sold. The sale went “Unconditional” this morning. There was excitement tinged with sadness. 39 years is a very long time. We have brought up four children, given a home to 10 dogs (at one time we had four together, three small and one large), owned countless cats and bred hundreds of Birman kittens on site. Keith ran a general medical practice from one wing of the house and the receptionists shared the kitchen and facilities with us. We have employed a number of “house fairies” (home helps) and several garden gnomes (gardeners). It has been a very busy, buzzy happy establishment. Now that is all ending.
We have been most fortunate in securing another home over the other side of town. It is on a back section and is secluded and will be very quiet after living on busy noisy Scott Street. This new property will go “unconditional” at the end of next week. Then we will negotiate dates for the big move. Although the stress of selling and then buying property is behind us now I fully expect the big move to be stressful. Imagine for a moment nearly 40 years of stuff to sort, stuff to discard, memories to relinquish and stuff to retain. I expect it will be difficult. I will keep you posted…….
