Run Forrest, Run!

Poppy and some of her friends were entered into a Cross Country tournament in Royston today so a few of us drove them there and hung around in the cold for a couple of hours. There were several moments of excitement and it was great to cheer our girls (and boys) on. I was really impressed with the standard of running and the children's resilience, particularly as it was absolutely FREEZING, the course was really muddy, and several of the children slipped over. Poppy slipped twice but just picked herself up and carried on running.
They didn't give us exact placings but the girls were all well ahead in the pack. They definitely must have all come in the top 50 out of about 150 runners.

I was a little surprised that with 600 children, and a couple of hundred adults, there were no facilities at all. Not even a loo!! A coffee and burger van would have made a killing!!

Desperation led us to McDonalds on the way back to school for a well earned lunch (and an urgent trip to the loo).
