I can see beyond your smile

I watched this on Russell Howard's Good News tonight.

I watched it last week too, when it popped up on the dark side of social media, and I watched and thought.

I watched, and watched, and watched.

I cannot get my head around, "being lost in his own world inside his head".

The voices in my head talk to me all the time.

What do you "hear" in your head when you have never heard a voice?

What do you understand of the world around you?

Patrick's Dad demonstrated weeding, and handed him the hoe.

Patrick's Dad demonstrated sweeping, and handed him the brush.

Patrick's Dad never tried to speak to him.

What did he think?

How did he think?

What is your conception of everything around you?

He looked perturbed when he arrived in the classroom.

He watched, and watched.

Eventually he looked at the teacher; he looked at the pictures.

He watched everyone signing around him and then, it happens.

You can see it, all over his face - the realisation that there was a word for "things"; but up until that morning, he didn't know what "things" were.

And then he smiled.

And that smile said it all.
