Yes, he is asleep!

I was hanging some washing out upstairs and had left Alfie dozing on the sofa. Then heard him heading for the stairs. I thought he was coming up to see me and then heard snoring and thought, no that is not possible but yes, sound asleep on the steps bolt upright, not the best photo but had to be captured and shared!
