Cake

a little while back I met with Ann ( longstanding friend of my mum's) to discuss design of the wedding cake.

After some discussion on the phone last night about the design, she decided to trek all the way over from the Wirral to check that the colours were correct and make decisions about the swirly pattern and colours that we were having. Our thoughts, on the phone, were that we would have the swirls in the same colour as the cake, purple on purple, taupe on taupe - to keep it simple, but elegant and so as not to detract from the flowers that will be on the cake (which I am told will look stunning, but as yet are a surprise to me and will be until the day...).

However, as much as it did look simple and elegant, when we swapped them to contrasting colours, it looked funky, and slightly 'different' which I think everyone would agree, is definitely more like me and Coz!

The photo hasn't captured the colours particularly well, but I have to say, Ann has done a cracking job - the purple matches my dress perfectly, and the taupe is another perfect match for my pashmina. She's good!

As for the flowers ...a surprise from my Aunty Rose (the young, sane Aunty, not the Great Aunty who is wonderfully batty!) who is doing the flowers for me, my bridesmaid and flower girls, Coz , James and (I hope) the best man. But I will not know until the day (probably in fact when I come downstairs just before the ceremony) what they will be.

Surprises like that I can deal with!

Off to ring my Pops - I think today was his last day at work. Forever. Until he starts doing odd days here and there. (I know it is his last day - he has made sure that the children knew full well how many days he had left - nothing like rubbing our faces in the fact that we all have at least 25 years of work left in us!)
