I left my heart in San Francisco...
...and my sanity!
Today has been a bit of a nightmare, we got to the airport to find that our flight had been overbooked and we didn't have any seats. After much stress we managed to get on the flight at the very last minute with our fingers crossed that our luggage was coming too...
When we connected to our Flagstaff flight (Oh, btw we are going to see the Grand Canyon tomorrow! That's why we are on the way to Flagstaff, theres no other reason to go to Falgstaff...ever.) which was the tiniest craft you've ever seen (again, there is no other reason to go to Flagstaff!) we saw our cases waiting to be loaded onto the plane, so felt muchly reassured. Only to find when we got there that they had not.
Oh, and our hotel who were supposed to be picking us up from the airport weren't answering their phone and everything was covered in snow and my coat, scarf, hat and anything remotely warm was all in my case. Yep.
Mags phoned the company who called the hotel and arranged for them to call us a taxi. Which they didn't. Phoned again and eventually got picked up. We had to stand in the freezing cold for a very long time, already quite grumpy from lack of luggage! It wouldn't have been so bad if there had been a taxi number to call or any kind of public transport but there are so few flights coming into Flagstaff Airport that the place was completely deserted, no one even seems to work there!
So to sum up, not terribly impressed with US Airways, not v happy with the people at our hotel, not liking Flagstaff one little bit and very cold and tired. Not the best day, but tomorrow can only be better :o)
I miss San Francisco!
