Grand National day
Afternoon trip to town to visit an antiques fair in St George's Hall; usual overpriced tat (some of which I fell for, but at least I haggled them down a bit). Liverpool Central Station was awash with racegoers dolled up to the nines and wending their gradual way to Aintree for the Grand National. All the trains had about 9 carriages instead of the usual 3, but even so the Railway Police were having difficulty managing the crush. On the plus side, town was uncharacteristically quiet for a Saturday. These two lovely ladies were on our train inward, on the first leg of their journey, and agreed to have their picture taken; if you see this, girls, hope you had a really great day out.
Watched the race back home afterwards; no horse fatalities this year thank God, and quite an exciting finish. The horse I backed (Big Fella Thanks) looked promising for a while but finished 4th.
