Anyone for a swing?

Mrs DD and I have just ben out for a very pleasant evening with a couple of guys I have been working with this week.

They are from Cork and Dublin and have been staying in a local hotel and invited us out for a meal and a few drinks.

The hotel is the Hundred House situated betwen Telford and Bridgnorth and is quirky, to say the least.

What we could not believe, until they took us up to see the proof, was the fact that some of the rooms have a swing in them.

Now we have pondered all the way home as to the significance, historically, freaky, kinky or otherwise of these swings, but are none the wiser.

Any help out there?

Sorry about the photo quality but the picture was taken from the foot of a huge four-poster bed facing the swing with a huge mirror in front of a single bed in the corner of the room. Watch out if you get up for a leak in the night!
