Airfix Strongpoint
I've passed this derelict farmhouse near Dromore, Co. Down for about forty years as we tootled down to the Republic of Ireland for various holidays and now work.
It has always reminded me of the old Airfix Strongpoint kit I made as a boy back in the 1970s.
I imagine that it was first built in the 1800s and I've often wondered why it hasn't been cleared for farmland. Perhaps the cost is prohibitive or there are sentimental reasons why the farmer allows it to remain. It's a substantial building and would have been the residence of a well off family (said in my best Tony Robinson voice), but when I look at it as I whizz past, it always reminds me of the Germans...Achtung!
