springtime wildflowers
The dryness of summer in northern Italy is well underway but it hasn't yet dimmed the brilliance of the wildflowers in full bloom. I took dozens of shots of various types, making my final choice a difficult one. I had set out to blip poppies, and managed to catch several terrific shots but in the end chose this dainty little butterfly on these delicate blooms instead. The poppies were abundant and fabulous though, growing along the roads, in the walls along the ditches, and in vast fields. Maybe next time!
