A "Tristan" Day
That darling little smile has been our view and our delight this entire day. That's Tristan, our great-grandson. He turned 3 this past February. He's so much fun. He is non-stop talk.
This was our first full day with Tristan since a year ago, and we truly got to spend the day together. Last night he slept in the canopy bed that belonged to his mom when she lived with us for a short time early in her high school days. This grandmother thought it was so cute to see this little boy asleep in that "frilly" bed. He was awake an hour ahead of his mommy this morning and joined us in our master bedroom as we had our morning coffee.
Once his mommy woke-up it was time for breakfast and some coloring and drawing and playing with stickers.
His mommy, Desiree, hasn't seen her southern California friends for a year, so she asked if we would be okay with keeping Tristan so she could spend this day and overnight with two of the girls-friends that she had gone to high school with. Of course we were okay with that.
So Grandpa Fun, Tristan, and I played in the pool and on the patio for many hours and Tristan had a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, jello fruit cup, and cheese crackers for lunch. Then more play in the pool.
We had put "water-wings" on his arms and we were thrilled to see those work well a couple of times when Tristan walked off the first step in the spa and found himself quickly floating in that little pool. Grandpa Fun was right there to reassure him that everything was okay.
After our early evening dinner, we put Tristan in last year's stroller, that Aunt Dede had kept for him, and the three of us walked (or strolled) through the neighborhood to the park. He was so excited to play on the swing and to go down the slide. He is now sound asleep in the canopy bed.
We are both amazed (as we were a year ago) at how easy it is to take care of Tristan. Taking care of him definitely requires all of our attention, but he's just so agreeable and easy-going, and we're thankful.
Thanks for reading this far. Thanks too to everyone who has taken the time to write a comment. This is the nicest community.
Good night from Southern California.
