330 miles
That's the distance between baltic and tropic here today. Could drive it in around 5 hours... a train would get you there in about three.
For such a small island there's some huge differences between top and bottom. And not just with the weather like today. But that's another can of worms...
The temperature is actually reading 13 degrees here just now, a 16 degree swing from London a mere 330 miles away. That's a whole degree every 19 miles! Not sure when auld Lizzie's due her usual Braemar break this summer but she'd better pack her thermals as the BBC website has it the coldest place in Britain just now at 13 degrees. She'd be better off packing her bucket and spade and jumping on the slow train to Great Yarmouth; Norwich is sitting at 31 degrees just now.
And, to top it all, it's pissing down.
Does any other country talk/moan/whinge about the weather as much as we do...?
