Another Galaxy....Light Years Away...

Whenever Arlo goes to stay at my Mum's for the weekend, we usually have a big night out planned. Our desperation to squeeze in as much as possible before he gets back means that we end up drinking a month's worth of booze, staying up for all night disco parties, eating take away and refusing to do any housework.

The result is that when Arlo gets back we are horribly hungover and thoroughly knackered and feel like we could do with an extra couple of days to get over it all.

We decided that this time would be different - with nothing planned in terms of big nights out, we were determined to have a chilled and relaxing weekend with loads of sleep and much newspaper reading. So far so good!

We watched this film on Friday night (we really enjoyed it, I'm not sure how Ian Dury fans found it, but we thought it was great) and after a long lie, followed by a long bath we took a walk to the shops to get some nibbles and came back and had a game of Scrabble (I won 261 to 187, for anybody who's interested) then a wee wander to the Shore to eat Dim Sum and other delectable delights at Chop Chop Leith (today's photo is from the tables in Chop Chop).

Packed quite a bit in today - I'm hoping that tomorrow brings sleep, pottering, sunshine and maybe a bit of catching up with friends. I suppose it all sounds very much like we're having a whale of a time without Arlo, but the best bit about all of this is that Arlo's having a whale of a time without us - he's been to see hens and tractors and diggers, he's bounced on trampolines, met some new pals, played trains and bubbles and football, had a picnic, watched The Clangers - yep, he's doing alright at Granny's!
