I'm just busy watching flowers in the rain........

Actually he's watching a tiny float called a blob in the sunshine!

Took my Dad fishing again today, best weather of the week so far.

Set him up with a "blob" a little poly ball instead of a float used for fishing in shallow water.

He did ok, caught 12 fish. As the hour to depart approached he moaned about the blob, thought it wasn't very good as a float, new fangled, not worth the money.

So I showed him a trick with the blob. "If you slide it down the line to about 3 inches above the float it's brilliant at catching fish cruising near the surface", I said. He scoffed, so I set it at 3 inches, cast in and bingo, no sooner had it touched the water, than it shot downwards, I pulled upwards and 1 minute later landed a 12 inch chub.

When dad picked his jaw up off the floor he wanted to try, he caught a nice roach about 4oz, he kept trying but the elusive "big 'un" stayed away. As we packed up to come home for the big BBQ I had planned he was still gob smacked. Didn't have the heart to tell him it ws pure luck, blobs really are designed for small fish, and the chub must have just been there and feeling hungry as I cast in.

Now he thinks I'm a fishing god, won't disillusion him just yet, I'm enjoying it too much!!!!
