Maroondah Reservoir
Robyn called this morning and invited us to go with them to Maroondah Reservoir in Healesville where there normally is no water flowing over the spill over. Apparently it is quite spectacular at the moment because of all the rain we have been having! Kaz said to Spence that we are going on a picnic, he jumped off my lap where we were reading stories and starting jumping around and yelling 'Yay! A picnic!' He then started clapping then shot his hands straight up in the air and yelled 'Yippee!!'
We didn't leave until 11.30 and it took an hour to drive there. We stopped off and bought a roast chicken and rolls to have for lunch. Kurt came in our car so Spence was really happy! We arrived at the reservoir and had our picnic lunch amongst the birds and the sound of the water rushing down!
It had been raining a bit in the morning but when we got there it was still a bit cold but no rain! We looked at the waterfall first and then climbed up the steps that take you onto the wall of the reservoir. The wall is about 40 meters high and the surface of the reservoir is about 200 hectares (nearly 500 acres).
There was no wind today so the surface of the reservoir was really flat. There was a lot of water flowing over the spill over, coming down with quite a force! I took heaps of photos but have gone with this one!
