Fallen leaf
It isn't really autumn in Leith yet, but some of the trees in the square have had quite a stressful time this season (scale insect infestation, strange weather etc) and have shed a few leaves early. I found this lying on the pavement.
Dave's faither died peacefully in the wee small hours this morning. It wasn't unexpected, but one can never be ready for something like this.
Goodbye, auld Davie.
The fallen leaves that jewel the ground
They know the art of dying
And leave with joy their glad gold hearts
In the scarlet shadows lying.
(from Robin Williamson's "October Song")
