1660
The Blue Bell claims to have been established in 1660 - the year of the English Restoration and the end of the Protectorate and Commonwealth. It stands in the centre of the hop gardens of mid-Kent, opposite the largest collection of oast houses in the world. Sadly it suffered a catastrophic fire earlier this year and is now boarded up. It is also surrounded by fencing so this shot - and the others I grabbed - were taken holding the camera over the fence.
I'll sort out the colour versions and upload to my Flickr stream soon.
