Signs
Generally I try to find a "good" or nice image for my blip but today I think I'm straying off piste slightly.
I'm a bit stressed over stuff just now - nothing major and all manageable but my head is full much of the time. On top of that there was an engineer in the office today - he was testing the panic alarms in our meeting/public rooms so for half an hour there was an unexpected, unpredictable and very unavoidable racket while we were trying to work (often on the phone to a student with a query). My full head meant that I needed a break so I grabbed the camera and wandered out for some fresh air.
I didn't need long and wasn't aiming to go far when I saw the view I've used here. I noticed all the signs that faced drivers as they headed towards the High Street and thought of it as a metaphor for my full head. How on earth do we pluck the important stuff from the "noise"? Look again at this image - even on foot, ignoring the road signs, look at all the signs aimed at pedestrians; shop fronts, A-boards, bus stop and adverts. It's a cacophony of visual stimuli and we have to negotiate through this each day - we have to try to spot the important, valuable stuff and ignore the dross.
Something to consider? And please don't worry - I'm fine and simply being reflective.
