nogbad's blips

It's learning really

This box is used as part of our outreach work. It is part of a larger kit used to illustrate how DNA is made up of a series of four different bases and that the order of these bases leads to the differences between different organisms - hence the models of the giraffe and whales and others. The coloured strings represent the DNA codes of a range of animals (the labels show which animal; a Baleen Whale, goat, leopard, etc).

I loved the colours and it caught my attention as I walked past the office where someone was checking the kits. She was actually making 3D models of the DNA double-helix which also goes with the kit - see it here.
