Gertie's Last Day

She was always the weak and vulnerable one. Always going off on her own and getting picked on. 3 new chicks hatch, and Gertie passes away peacefully. Perhaps one of the chicks is hers, at least that is what I would like to think.

I left her in the coop this morning before going to work and knew she may not be alive when I got home, and so it was.

Aside from that sad news, I am also dealing with changes to my hours at work. Seems night work is the fashion when dealing with young people. Breaks into my routine...no bad thing.

Change is good. Nothing and noone lasts forever.
