Home Made Ring Light
This is the admittedly preliminary version of a home made ring light. You will sense that it is not expensive ($1.50) but it does work as you can see in yesterday's blip.
it channels light from the pop-up flash into the roasting pan where it bounces around and then is diffused by the waxed paper. I tried shining a halogen lamp into the side but it was not bright enough and the color was goofy, hence the aluminum foil light guide.
Popular Photography's October issue shows a more elegant (and less fragile) setup involving an angel food cake pan and a remote flash unit.
Experimenting with this concept was a fun project.
