Precipitation within Sight

Is an old and forgotten term from the pre satellite meteo era. Lots of merchant marine vessels were so-called selected ships and supplied their national weather services with extreme usefull info about the weather on the oceans. For the crew on the bridge it meant that you had to fill in a very detailed meteo observation report. It was a time consuming job. If you saw rainshowers and rain on the horizon, like you can see on this picture, you had to fill in : Precipitation within Sight. Every retired mate and captain knows this term. Our track brings us closer to dangerous hurricane areas now. I'll keep you informed. By the way: I love this lens and its effect. You also have a nice look on our towing winch, clearly showing that we don't have too much tow wire left on our drum.
