The Round House

Certainly round. Definitely not a house.

It does look as though it is sinking into the mire. The surrounding land is rather boggy, due to the nearby natural spring and will get more so as Autumn progresses. The ladder offers a precarious means of access.

Many people have stepped inside over the years (without the use of a ladder) as the stone steps that lead you inside show much wear. At almost two hundred years old it isn't doing too bad.

This site once used to be popular in the same way that Harrogate and Bath used to be. The Victorian tourists have long gone and all is now quiet.
