Hospitality
How exactly does one define hospitality? Or rather lack of
Today I called in on a house whose occupant I know . I have been in the house before maybe even twice. However today they said come in. Got taken into the lounge which as always was neat and tidy with a splendid view. Then the phone rang and the person answered it and said " I'll phone you back in ten minutes!" Well maybe I'm cynical but that suggested that 10 minutes was going to be the length of my disturbance of an otherwise quiet afternoon!no cup of tea was offered and a few pleasantaries exchanged. When I got up to leave it was raining, now again perhaps I am living under some sort of illusion but as I was not wearing a coat, If I was the other person I would have either said, stay till the rain stops or would you like a lift up the road. No. though to be fair they did offer me the loan of an umberella!
Ok so my carpet may need a hoover now and again but hospitality I would like to think is something we have plenty of. If someone came unexpected to my door I like to think I would always have the time to offer them tea, good conversation and some of my time or am I too old fashioned?
Have a good blip day all
