Hoping for the Arms of Mater......

I'm in an Autumnal mood.

We used to live in a place where we were considered "interloupers".

It wasn't unusual for us to try a drink in the local bar, and for us to stand, ignored while the "local" folk were served before us. Occassionally someone would say "I think that lass and her English B^&*^d husband are looking for a drink. That was being generous.

The local kids congregated outside of our house - there was a lane to a swing park there. We witnessed some horrific sights. Once I tried to tell a mother what I had seen happen to her daughter and I was told to "mind my own bloody business". I told another mother what I witnessed her daughter do to a young lad, and was subjected to the worst verbal abuse from an incoherent inbred for 20 minutes in the middle of the street.

We were on first name terms with the local bobby, and for his sake, I can't tell you what the only substantial advice was. We had Eggs, Stones and Dog dirt thrown at the door. We had gangs stand outside the house and block the entrance way to our drive. We watched drugs being traded openly in the street.

One night, when we were being subjected a mass torrent of abuse we called the police, and witnessed a mother driving by and shouting out the window. They've called the police, start moving. The mother in question. A member of the local community council.

Once, Boy wasn't invited to a birthday party of a boy just down the street. I asked him if he was bothered? He said, I'm not the only one not invited, the ones in the posh houses, and me, that's all. I think it's probably because they think we are better than them".

And do you know what?

We were.

Thought I'd come back and say something about the picture! Is lovely colours eh? This was a bush at the train station. I was standing to one side and seen the red poking thru and when I moved for a closer look, was struck by how perfect the White dying plant looked against the red and the White! Nature knows how to mix colours eh? That'll be why you never see a brown cow with blue wellies!
