Boo!
The Shetland ponies are back! They were here all last winter and became very friendly and approachable and enjoyed regular visits by Ollie and me.
In August they were loaded into a trailer, brushed and tidied up and taken to the local show where they won prizes in the Mare and Foal class and various Shetland pony classes. Since then they have been a field nearer the main village but with Halloween and Bonfire Night coming up they have brought back to the quiet of our little neck of the woods.
It doesn't do to get too fond of them as they are not pets, but are kept to breed and sell. My favourite from last year has not come back. She was a real character and I became very fond of her. She got to be very trusting and tame.
This foal was born on my birthday so I am glad she has come back, together with her mother and three others. I don't know if she remembered me, but when she saw Ollie she came charging over to see him! He runs backwards and forwards along the fence, trying to get the ponies to chase him! Unfortunately the field is already pretty muddy and so I don't encourage him to get them to churn it up any more!
