Halloween Day

We went for a really nice long hike today in a beautiful forest. There was a big river that ran through it and the dogs had fun chasing their ball and running in the water when allowed. The kids had fun collecting the colorful leaves and claiming mineral rights on every stone that glittered. Later in the evening we headed over to our friends' house for a lovely dinner with another family as well, and then we all went for that traditional stroll behind our children as they pandered for sugar door to door. Alyssa, after changing wardrobe three times, dressed as a T-Rex (practicing her roar the entire car trip over) and Lewis morphed into a surly pirate, making sure to take a black marker to fill in where the eye patch and curly-Q mustache should be. I'm sure his teacher will get a chuckle out of that tomorrow.
