Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Election Day USA

Election Day ought to feel like a victory day, but honestly it's all been so ugly that it is just a relief to see it all come to an end.

The politicians in our nation have a lot of maturing to do. The mud-slinging that Americans have been exposed to has been overwhelming and it has come from all sides. Every party is guilty and, I think it would not be exaggerating to say, every candidate.

During this election season, the leaders of our nation and the wanna-be leaders have not been quality role models for our children and youngsters. I'd like to see the campaigning return to candidates telling the people why they are qualified to lead us, rather than a continual digging up of dirt on the opponent. I guess that's asking too much.

It will be nice to no longer have my mailbox stuffed with advertisements for the election. The amount of paper that has come through the mail has been wasteful in this day of concern about the environment and going "green" whenever possible.

I voted today, and I do appreciate the freedom and the privilege to vote that we have in this nation, but much of this election season has been distasteful.

I'm glad it's over, but concerned that it will all begin again too soon for the election of 2012.

Good night from Southern California.
