The Old West

While out hiking this morning, we happened upon a group of horse riders off in the distance. The setting was very old west feeling - horses and hills. I can imagine these riders herding cattle, followed closely by a chuck-wagon, as I have seen in countless westerns.

I wanted to convey the sense of grandeur we felt when walking among the hills of the Coachella Valley, so I placed the riders low in the frame and included a lot of the background. I experimented with vertical compositions, but landscapes typically require horizontal arrangements and that was certainly true here.
