Historic Galena
This morning I was up at 5:30am and on the road to Historic Galena, IL. Its about a 4 hour drive west from Chicago and located about a half hour east of the Mississippi River near Dubuque Iowa. It was my first visit to this area and it was a perfect day for a road trip. Galena was the residence of President Ulysses S. Grant. The rest of the history of Galena can be found in Wikipedia.
I am always out somewhere with my camera on a Sunday morning and usually return mid afternoon. When I returned today the conversation went something like this:
Hubby: So where did you go today?
Me: Galena
Hubby: Where? (Hubby is from the East Coast)
Me: Near Iowa
Hubby narrows eyebrows: "you drove to Iowa?"
Me: Yes (I might as well have told him Idaho)
Hubby: "Why?"
Me: To take pictures
Hubby shakes head: "You're obsessed"
He walks away laughing
There was so much I didnt get a chance to see. This area deserves a full weekend trip.
