Reuben and cupcake
Ah bless Reuben, joining Callum in eating cupcakes, each of which were decorated with a different wild animal. Thanks to Kristina for baking them for me and helping me get ready on Friday and Saturday. Reuben has absolutely no interest in eating food, but tries so hard to join in socially. Every year I bake an organic cake for the birthdays but have come to realise that everybody prefers synthetic cakes made with vegetable oil. Alas, I succumbed.
Reuben had a great day at school and came home saying all of his days of the week. I guess I just have to get used to Sunday being the first day of the week here, which confuses me greatly, as in, what does weekend actually mean then if both days aren't at the end of the week? At bathtime, with all the letters of the alphabet spelt out by Callum beautifully, Reuben proceeded to point to the S T then O and P and emphatically said STOP. Love it! What gorgeous early literacy for a boy who has so much working against him! How he marvels, defies it, tells it where to go, those barriers to communication. Be gone!
The huge pile of presents is gradually being demolished by the boys. Out are coming trucks, Toy Story garbage trucks, great clothes, a garden slide, Woody & Buzz, a navity set from mog70, a train set, ducks... Trying to spread the toys over the days but it's proving difficult, as is now matching the cards with the toys.
