how to cook sausages

take two children, get them to lug terracotta drainage pipes from far end of the garden. Dig a circle out of the lawn, make a sunshine out of pipes, pour gravel into the middle, light fire (after chopping wood). Send children to find long sticks in willow hedge and make them pointy. Put sausages on sticks and get children to hold them over fire whilst you take photos. Then eat the sausages lying on the lawn in the sun...with a horde of cats and the dog just waiting, waiting, dribbling and waiting for you to drop something....

it was a gorgeous sunny day today and we were outside all day. I even got sunburn! YAY! Early beds are cleared in the garden and the cold frame is ready, compost turned over, leaves raked, sticks picked up....in fact, short of polishing the patio, I think I thoroughly cleared everything up. Now it can snow if it dares for I am ready. Ha!
