Kayaking

On our last day in Kaua'i we decided to go kayaking. We decided to rent our own kayaks and paddle the Waimea River without a tour guide . . . and it turned out we really didn't need one since there were so many other kayakers out on the river.

We parked our boat on the shore of this bank and then hiked a couple of miles into the lush tropical forest to find a gorgeous waterfall. We enjoyed our lunch on a rock overlooking the water and then had to hightail it back to the river so we could return the kayak and get to the airport on time!

Luckily, R is a pro kayaker and got us back down the river in no time (I was actually forbidden to assist in the paddling as I seemed to make things worse - so for me it was lovely to just sit back and enjoy the ride!).
