The Right to Write....

I have just got home (11.30pm) from spending the evening with a bunch of interesting women, writing letters for Amnesty International. The 10th December is letter writing day - so this means that in many homes, halls and other places, around the world, people are spending time writing letters to address the truly horrendous treatment that is going on in the world right now! We see it on the news, we read about it in the newspapers, but when faced with 2 pages about a particular situation, and then try to write a letter in response to it, well it was a bit more shocking! It was more difficult that i thought it would be....mostly because you are trying to understand the details, condense the situation into a brief but strong letter! No easy feat - especially with a bunch of very animated women, and some wine, and some sugary treats! but we managed, I think between us we wrote more than 40 letters!
And it was a lovely way to get to know a bit more about these interesting women!
