..Christmas decorations.............

This is probably our tackiest Christmas bauble...leopard print!

Quiz night again tonight and after last week's defeat and loss of our 100% record, changes had to be made. Terry didn't really want to play as Man Utd v Arsenal was on the tv, so Phil dropped himself and made me captain with Lee, Anne and Bob.

First round. We scored two questions, picked up a bonus and missed two to lose the round 5-6. Do you know What was invented by Smith and Bhatia to allow internet access anywhere in the world from any computer or Who was the first left hander to win Wimbledon?

Second round, the easiest individual questions ever on Unseen TV characters, Parliamentary Terminology, WWII Battles and Welsh Castles 8-8
Total score 13-14.

Round three both teams dropped points on the plants questions "What is the more common name of the Cleaver known as Bedstraw?" and "Cochlea Officionalis gained what name from it's use to provide vitamin C?"
6-6
Total 19-20

Round four on the theme of Iron saw the visitors from the "Shoulder of Mutton score 4 easy points but we were stumped by the name of Bismark's 1896 speech and had to settle for 2
Half time 21-24

Nicotine break and it was looking like my captaincy was going to produce a second succesive loss.

Round 5 More difficult questions saw us slip further behind losing 4-5 for a total of 25-29

Round 6 The 4 point questions and we needed the second clue to identify Honor Blackman as the Bond girl who first appeared at the age of 37, although I knew the answer but didn't risk it. Fortunately the SoM dropped their Halle Berry question and I picked up the bonus, 4 points for recognising Bikini Atoll as the largest of the Marshall Islands, another 2 pointer and two more bonuses and we'd taken the round 11-2!
Total score 36-31

Round 7 individuals saw me left with Astronomical phenomenon, good job my topic with year 7 is currently "Space" so the Canals of Mars and a bonus Rings of Saturn caused no problem. Lee picked up the premier of King Kong in the Graumann's Premieres and Bob grabbed his 2 points for London Blue Plaques.
Round score 7-3
Total 43-34

Final round saw us waltz to a 7-4 win for a total of 50-38!

Back on the winning trail........... 11 and 1....now if we can just win 9 of the last 10 games in the New Year we're Champions.

Back to work tomorrow after my bout of flu, Christmas holidays start 12.30 Friday!

Das vidanya.
