Rainy Day in Oregon

Elk

Obviously I don't have a telephoto lens. Someday. This elk herd was in the same field as the ducks and geese from yesterdays blip. Just a little further away! There are about 40 of them. Last December I took a picture of the same herd a 1/4 mile East of this spot. It was a much better photo, but this will have to do. There were 60 animals in it then. I suppose they were split up during hunting season this year.

Adding some info. here: The elk are wild. They jump the fences or sometimes, when spooked, will run through them. They can be quite destructive to farmers fields. Larger than deer, a bull can weigh 600 to 1000+ pounds.
