We are definitely not amused

I spent most of the day writing Christmas cards and addressing envelopes (see yesterday's blip), but went up to the post office in the afternoon to acquire stamps for various exotic locations. It was bitterly cold. I only took my hands out of my gloves/pockets once to take a photo, when I was passing the statue of Queen Victoria at the foot of the Walk. They've put the festive tree so close to her that it's practically tickling her nose.

Back in the day, they used strings of old-style incandescent light bulbs on the tree rather than these little things. By the end of the festive period there were only ever a few of the bulbs left at the top of the tree, out of reach of the practically minded Leithers who realised that the bulbs would also work in their domestic light fittings.

In other news, the new computer that we ordered finally made it to the house after being caught up in delivery backlogs. DaveH has been excitedly plugging everything in and firing everything up and muttering to himself. I may be invited to approach it in the not too distant future. ;-)

Edit: Dammit, just heard that Captain Beefheart has died. Another good man down.
She would definitely not have been amused at
this.
