Traditional start to the year with big fry-up brunch and then a walk up a big hill in the afternoon. Haven't been up Blackford Hill for years and things like the conference centre and the Quartermile stuff looked all alien and new in the cityscape. Managed to pick out our house tho' more or less, I'm not a big fan of rugby particularly but Murrayfield stadium came in pretty handy for navigation at least. Took lots of pictures on top of the hill and they all came out quite poor, so instead of a joyous, beatific blip to kick off 2011 where you can virtually feel the fresh air rushing into your lungs you're getting what looks like the remnants of a crime scene in some woodland round the back of our park. Happy, erm, New Year.

Friend round for tea, drinks, post-Christmas present exchange and all that. Helped along with some accompanying loveliness from a certain Mr Stevens and some more magnificence from the Phil Spector box set. We're on disc three, and it includes this, one of his greatest ever productions. [Never seen that particular clip before until now, it's nothing short of phenomenal, and WHAT a voice !]
