New Year's frost

Had a lovely walk on the Island today. The sun, though low in the sky, was penetrating the forests in odd places. Lots to photograph. I was quite surprised by the frost formations on the salal. The distinct crystal shapes are unusual to me. I wonder if they look this way because of the salt in the air in this maritime environment. They hung on through the mid day despite the warming temperature.

Slow re-entry to work tomorrow. Not back fully til Wed. Sigh. I have enjoyed this quiet respite and the time to photograph the Island I love.
