alice's adventures

Respect

I went all out for blowing away cobwebs today and cleaned the car, inside and out. It had smelt of horse manure since November the 5th and was putting a dampener on the new year.

I tried to rope in help and managed to bag one little volunteer who's contribution was to clean the outside with a kitchen brush.

The obvious next step was to fill the monkey waggon with dirty bikes and boys and head for some wide open space.

They rode bikes, climbed trees, slid down and climbed up dirty banks, hid in bushes, jumped streams and enjoyed being with other boys.

It is my opinion that boys need freedom and good role models (heroes maybe). They aspire to be like big boys and men that they know. They watch them for cues and signs of approval and acceptance.

My boys all want to grow up to be Dads. This says a lot about how they feel about their own Dad.

The other person that they hold in such high respect is their uncle, my brother. He's a wonderful dad too.

Any man who has this kind of control over a horse is, without doubt, worthy of great respect.
