What's with all the ladybirds?

There was half an hour of nice light today, and what with the Project Manager being a bit STIR CRAZY, I popped out. ('Cause it's still not finished...)

The garden is full of ladybirds! (Seven spot ones, no harlequins, yet).
There's a ladybird rave happening and someone's given them my address!
Mostly they're on brown things; seed pods and dead leaves, but these few were on a green thing, and hence slightly more photogenic!
(Perhaps they intend turning up to the party as holly berries?)
