Symbolic Flag
Today as we walked along the shoreline, Mr. Fun noted that the flag at half mast speaks volumes about the current news and the tragedy in Tucson. He took this photo and captured three of the things that represent this week -- the foam, the flag, the island off in the distance.
We left the house mid-morning and walked a mile or so along the sand. We got to the pier and stopped there long enough to have a taco for lunch and then turned to walk into downtown Ventura to Mission San BuenaVentura. Mr. Fun would have thoroughly enjoyed touring the place, but we had Chloe with us. Our tour of the place will happen some other day. So we turned around and walked back to the shore and along the water of Pierpont Bay listening to the waves and watching the foam and headed toward our place. It felt good to get back. We were tired of walking.
Every evening this week we've watched the sunset and then we've watched the national news to learn the updates from Tucson. Both have colored these January days. We're thankful that the congresswoman in Tucson is recovering and we grieve for the families that are experiencing gut-wretching loss.
We arrived here one week ago this afternoon. Ventura has been a wonderful place to vacation.
Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun, and Chloe), aka Carol
P.S. We stopped at the store with "the hat" today so I could show it to Mr. Fun. I was thrilled that it was still there. Maybe tomorrow I'll make that purchase. If and when I do, you can be sure it will be in a upcoming blip!
