Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

A "Chloe" Day

At 5:30 this morning I was awake. My first quiet thought was, "Come on! It's Saturday! I can sleep in." Moments later I heard Chloe moving inside her cage/kennel/house. The morning habit here is to open her little door, pick her up, and put her in bed with us. After she has distributed sufficient kisses to both of us, she settles in between us and immediately is snoozing. So hearing her wake-up is not burdensome. I know her routine and she's so easy. It was my internal clock that was bothering me, but I know that the "soon return to work" has me a little on edge. Oh well. Next week we'll settle into a workday routine.

Late this afternoon I went out for a one hour shopping moment. I am really not wild and crazy about shopping. I love to look, to touch, to feel, and if I find a bargain, then I buy. I grew-up in a home that taught me about "saving" not "spending" and I learned my lesson well. So I feel victory if I don't spend or at least if I do buy, it must be a bargain.

I went to the "feed" store in Norco, which is a rural community next to our city. The dog food section usually has lots of packets of "samples." So I thought I would get some of those and a few other supplies we needed. There were no samples available today. Darn! So I wandered through the aisles and found this little red sweater/jacket for $7.00 (at PetSmart or PetCo it would have been at least $15 or $20), so I bought it. Once home I immediately put it on her. Chloe is the first pet we've put "clothes" on, but honestly, she gets cold. She's feather light, doesn't have a lot of fur, and her tongue feels like a rose blossom licking me, and she loves to lick/kiss. She is very affectionate. It's the first jacket she's worn that has a place for her front legs and straps around her back legs, so I'm sure it felt a little weird too her. She was a good sport and only jumped around for a short while. I captured about a half dozen photos where she looked like a white snowball with a red jacket.

So it's been a "Chloe" day, which, I guess, isn't the same as a "Chelsea Morning," so maybe she needs someone to write her a song.

Good night from Southern California.
