The girls were squawking....

Girls being the chickens!!! It's been a couple of days since we'd checked the hen house....they have a somewhat heated pad that the water sits on, and big hopper full of food, so it's not too unusual for us to ignore them for a couple of days! the main problem we then have is frozen eggs! however, after last nights storm and the way the snow had drifted up, you can see what sort of problem i faced this morning! so, i got on my snowshoes, got the shovel and started up the big drift....all the time there was this amazing chorus coming from the house...you'd think they were dying!!!! they weren't - but their water was frozen! mind you, there is a wee hatch on the front of their house so the can head out into the snow when they get desperate!

the amount of snow here is really quite staggering....but at least it's a warmish day.....after -19, -5 is completely balmy!! it does look very pretty out there, and i'm happily working away in the studio.

off to Sydney this evening to see a movie....hope it's worth the drive !
