Fabrictastic!

I'll have one of those, one of those and one of those please!

It rained today. Heavily! So don't think it's all sun and games! It got really miserable but it didn't stop us from hiring bicycles (and ponchos) in order to zip around town to our various tailors and cobblers. Saw the men at work on our garments as we visited their workshop in one place, for final adjustments and tweaking. Amazing to see their speed and skill on the machines.

Lunch was at a stall in the Central Market. We saw them yesterday and promised one lady we'd be back today. She saw us a mile off, and gave us a lovely welcome. We were specifically after the local specialities: Banh Xeo - crispy, savoury pancakes rolled with beansprouts, shrimp and herbs in a fresh rice paper followed by Cao lau - a generous bowl of thick, doughy rice-flour noodles, beansprouts and greens topped with thin slices of pork, sprinkled with crispy rice paper. Vic had the shrimp in place of the pork and it was delicious! Just as good, if not better than the more upmarket and pricier restaurants in town. We've been meaning to have steet-eats since we arrived and aside from a baguette last week in Can Tho, this was our first.

Hoping the rain stops by the morning and then it's an afternoon bus to Hue, so will get to see some more of the lush, green countryside.

Monday's Blip if you're interested!
