Mate de coca

Coca leaves - either as tea (mate de coca) or chewed - are an effective remedy for symptoms of altitude sickness. But the US Government in its infinite wisdom has made coca leaves illegal because they are a precursor of cocaine manufacturing.

I chewed a lot of them while in Peru ;)
