Past Times
The old farm house at the top of the hill is now deserted. The elderly couple moved out a while ago and now one of them has died so goodness knows what will happen to the old place. The farm buildings are rented out and the land is owned by one of the sons, but it is all in very poor repair and on its last legs.
Yesterday I ventured up the farm track for the first time. I didn't like to while the house was occupied, as it passes very close to the windows. Ollie and I had a bit of an explore of the ruins and abandoned bits of machinery. This is obviously the original farm house, but the roof is corrugated iron now and the door has been filled up with concrete blocks. Around the door are very old, dead looking trees, stunted and sculpted by the wind into aerodynamic shapes. Through the grassy tussocks you can see edging stones which must have marked out the garden area in days gone by. I love places like this and will definitely go back for another look.
Round the back there were lots of rusting skeletons of farm machinery, but the wooden wheels of this old cart caught my eye. You can see Ollie snuffling about in the background too! He enjoyed it as much as me, lots of exciting smells to investigate!
