Last year I turned 50 and also fell off my bicycle, breaking my neck, jaw and various other bones. So now every day is especially precious and Blipfoto seems a great place to record what I see and do. I live in the countryside, with my husband, teenage sons, Border Collie and other animals. My daughter is away at university. I have lots of interests and enjoy trying new things and travelling to new places. Current activities include cycling, samba and karate.
UPDATE October 2013
18 months later and blip has become part of my life. Still taking most of my photos with my phone, because it's always with me and we can't get proper Internet at home (I often have to leave the house and walk until I find enough reception to upload my blip!).
Have made some wonderful blip friends - you know who you are.
Life has moved on. Daughter left uni and spent a year in Japan (documented here. Teenage sons are still at home, so is Jack the dog. All have got used to being blipped.
Still drumming with Samba Sisters and still on the bike, but no longer flexible enough for karate :-(
November 2014
Time for another update.. Only D and Youngest Son at home now. Eldest Son moved into his own flat in town and daughter is in Ethiopia just now. Jack the dog died earlier this year. I miss him so much. My best friend died last year, too - she taught me so much about the joy of living.
My braces came off in July after 3 years so I'm smiling a lot :-)
In September, I started as a mature student at Dumfries and Galloway college, doing an HNC in Photography. I'm learning all kinds of stuff, like how to use a proper camera on manual.
The adventure of Life!!! continues.. It's great to share it with you all.
Update July 2016
I've done my two years at college now and have an HNC. Has it made me a better photographer? You decide..
Over 1500 entries on Blip and it's become part of my life, having the camera with me wherever I go, uploading an entry every day. So glad the site got saved!
Just me and D at home now, and he is happily retired. We have a new puppy called Jess (very photogenic).
Where will I go from here? Watch this space...
August 2016 - my new project! Visit "https://www.facebook.com/Humans-of-Dumfries-and-Galloway-1166454300073227/" page on Facebook
Can it really be 2020 already??
Yes, and February, too. Almost time for my Blip birthday so I thought I should update.
Just Me, Him (D) and Border Collie Jess at home now. D has recently joined me on Blip, with TWO journals - chavdad and DRB60. He has just got a place at college to study art starting in August :-)
I work 2 days a week at an amazing cafe in Dumfries : The Usual Place. As well as it being a great place to eat and drink, we train up young people with additional support needs so that they can get qualifications and paid employment. It's very satisfying work.
In my spare time, as well as taking photos, I enjoy reading, sewing, and immersing myself in Nature by walking, bivvying, cycling and birdwatching. I'm in a women's drumming group, the Samba Sisters, and an amazing choir, the Cairn Chorus.
Hope you enjoy my photos.
