BLACKTOFT SANDS RSPB

A very wet morning followed by showers in the afternoon. The £5 I spent on a pair of waterproof leggings was one of my best purchases last year!

We went to look for the Marsh Sandpiper which had appeared at RSPB Blacktoft Sands this week, and we saw it, though not for long as it was very flighty. All the waders were so perhaps it was the weather. Six Marsh Harriers put on a wonderful display, and a food-pass. And the Moth trap in the visitor's hide held a fascinating collection of last night's Moths.

Today also turned out to be a day of too many photographs, but many of them blurred by the rain. I found a beautiful Hare but by the time I blipped him he was too far away for a sharp shot. So instead, this is a shot caught between showers at the bird reserve. The wild flowers there are a sight to behold.
