Never Too Many Boats...?
"Is it so nice as all that?" asked the mole, shyly...
"Nice? It's the only thing," said the Water Rat Solemnly, as he leaned forward for his stroke. "Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
"Simply messing...about in boats -- or with boats... In or out of 'em it doesn't matter. Nothing seems to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not."
From Wind in the willows by Kenneth Grahame, a favorite....
Well, yes, we can agree with Rat. Thought I would blip some of our boats for the record , including the Alden shell(H is putting on the cover, after our afternoon row today) an upside down sailing dinghy (too small for the 2 of us together but it rows well and is good for the grandkids) and the flat bottomed Dory on the grey float (that I quite like to take out with camera)... Not on the dock right now are the kids' kayaks and a double rowing shell that takes up too much space (more about it in a later blip) and an old quad (4 person rowing shell) that lives in the neighbor's boathouse for infrequent use. Oh yes, there's an inflatable somewhere too, left over from sailing days.... It seems there is always something to be done with some boat (including those 2 motors!) but except for the motors, it's all pretty fun messing about.....
Sun out today, makes for blue water! Imagine that!
